Friday, July 27, 2007 Thanks for the Tia Carmen strips WOW!!! Tia Carmen is a very smart woman!!!! Thank you so very much for today's strip!!! I'm a 69 year old great grandmother and I love what you do. I understand you have also encouraged voter registration. Good for you. Saturday, July 21, 2007 Encore Presentation Tia Carmen's back story ... OK, here it is. We've compiled the strips that show how Tia Carmen came to live with Baldo, Gracie and dad Sergio. Seems fans ask about this story everywhere we go! So here it is. It's been added to the Fan-Favorite Episodes area on the right side of the page, too. ------------------------------------------------------------ Post by HCantu at 6:11PM. Thursday, July 19, 2007 Call your newspaper for more! I just wanted to tell you guys that I love your comic. I read it every Sunday. It's good to see la raza in the paper and how to keep the hispanic heritage going in the comic. As a begining artist, I hope you guys are around for many years to come. Gracias. ------------------------------------------------------------ Post by Hugo at 8:24AM. Comments to baldomail@baldocomics.com.
COMMENTS ¦Only on Sundays?! Hugo, hermano, you're missing out on the nonstop hilarity and deep cultural insights of our Monday through Saturday strips!! C'mon, raza! Call your newspaper today, furserious, and tell them, no, DEMAND that they add Baldo during the week. Do it for the children. Post by HCantu.
Baldo discovered by Baldo! This is too cool. My last name is Baldo. I found this by accident. Where are you based out of? I'm in Cary Ill, USA. ------------------------------------------------------------ Post by NOTNCRS at 6:51AM. Comments to baldomail@baldocomics.com.
COMMENTS ¦We're based out of the USA too, dude! Awesome! You're here. We're here. You're named Baldo! We're named Baldo! If you married Baldo, your kid could be named Baldo Baldo! How cool is that?!?!?! Post by HCantu.

I have to know what they're saying Hi! Some time ago one of your sunday strips was in spanish (orange county register). I have asked several "Baldos" to interpret it for me. They all have said something a little different. I would appreciate it if you tell me exactly what was said. I'm attaching a copy of it. It is a little worn as I have been carrying it around for some time. ------------------------------------------------------------ Post by Lee S. at 8:12AM. Comments to baldomail@baldocomics.com.
COMMENTS ¦Ahhh, the famous border crossing strip! We remember that one quite well. See, Gracie and Nora are crossing the U.S.-Mexico border so they can work as landscapers and hopefully make a better life for their children. Well, they get separated from their coyotes, and they get lost. Gracie says something like "We've seen that tree 100 times! You know what that means?" And Nora says, "It's lost too?!" And Gracie says "No! La migra is trying to confuse us!" Ha ha ha! We loved that one. Click here to see copy of the English version so you can see how it translated. Post by HCantu.
Monday, July 9, 2007 Baldo sightings in N.C. Hey guys, I'm writing from our cabin in Piney Creek, N.C. where I've spent the last two weeks enjoying a great summer vacation with my familia. But all good things must come to an end, and we're ready to head on back home to sunny South Florida ... NOT! Are you kidding? We're having a complete blast up here in beautiful North Carolina, so much so, we've decided to extend our stay for another four weeks. Woohoo!! And with DSL here at the cabin, I won't skip a beat getting my work done while I'm here (man, I love the internet). Here's a short video I put together of our July 4 bash in Piney Creek, River Country Estates. We had an awesome time eating, playing, fishing, eating, dancing, rafting, and swimming. Did I mention eating? The Piney Creek volunteer fire department dropped by to hose off all the kids and later put on a spectacular 4th of July fireworks display. Thanks to Edwin Barquet and the rest of the folks at River Country Estates for all their hard work putting together an unforgettable shin-dig. Check back for additional posts from Piney Creek. ------------------------------------------------------------ Post by CCastellanos at 10:02AM. Comments to baldomail@baldocomics.com.
Friday, July 6, 2007 Happy Birthday, Frida! Well, sorry to say we weren't able to draw up a happy birthday strip in time for Frida Kahlo's 100th birthday today. We know Gracie fans everywhere are disappointed. But seriously, the day caught us by surprise. We suck, I know. Gracie's favorite artist deserved better ... not only from us! Where was the PBS TV special!? As a consolation, here's Gracie dressed up as Friday from a few years back.

Thursday, July 5, 2007 Providing howls of laughter I've been reading (and very much enjoying) your strip for several years now. It always astounded me how Baldo, his family and friends reminded me so much of Hispanic neighbors, co-workers (and occasional dates), as a lifetime L.A. County resident. There's always been something about the dynamics of the characters, however, that I couldn't QUITE put my finger on - until I read the July 4, 2007 strip. Finally it became clear to me why I always felt so very comfortable around and among Hispanics - My Lord, they're just like we Italians! Once again, you've provided me with howls of laughter. Thank you for all your hard work - Good Luck and God Bless! ------------------------------------------------------------ Post by Sam Pedace at 3:56PM. Comments to baldomail@baldocomics.com.
You're celebrating, right? Since this year is the 100th aniversary of Frida Kahlo's birth, I suppose it will be mentioned in your strip? Maybe just on the 6th of July, on Frida's birth date? Will Gracie (my favourite character) be emphasizing that all the time? It sure would be bummer if strip misses that jubilee. And another thing: why Baldo comics aren't available directly from his official site like most of the daily strips? Anyway, I am great fan of Baldo, and I think Gracie is the cutest little cartoon girl I ever saw! Your strip is really cool and just continue good work! ------------------------------------------------------------ Post by Darin at 8:30AM. Comments to baldomail@baldocomics.com.
COMMENTS ¦Uh ... well ... see ... We had Frida birthday strips all ready to go and they got lost in transit from us to the syndicate! That's what happened! Furserious! We'll try to draw something up in time for tomorrow! And BTW, you can see today's strip every day by clicking on READ TODAY'S BALDO STRIP on top right. Post by HCantu.
Thanks for the equal time Greetings to the Creators of Baldo: Thank you for portraying Tia Carmen with a (working) saint collection! It is so refreshing to see Catholics portrayed positively. I am not Hispanic, but I also revere God and His holy saints. For years, anytime there was a murderer in a TV show, he would always have a little corner of his home filled with statuettes of Jesus and the saints. Thank you for giving a little bit of time to the other side. ------------------------------------------------------------ Post by Mary H. at 8:14AM. Comments to baldomail@baldocomics.com.
Tuesday, July 3, 2007 Meeting Wolverine's co-creator It's not every day you get to meet the legendary artists who drew the comics you grew up on. Herb Trimpe (above) was at the Dallas Comic Con and I jumped at the chance to talk with him about comics at the end of the show Sunday. Check out Herb's Wikipedia page here. I had Herb sign my Comic Con guest badge (below), which shows the cover Trimpe did for The Incredible Hulk #181 (Nov. 1974), which was Wolverine's first full appearance. It was great seeing a big smile on Herb's face as tons of fans lined up to meet him. Awesome dude!
Herb talked to me about a comic strip he wants to syndicate (I can't tell you much about it ... it's super secret), so we exchanged e-mails. Hopefully, you'll be hearing more about it soon. ------------------------------------------------------------ Post by HCantu at 6:45PM. Comments to baldomail@baldocomics.com.
One of da best in the business! Whew! It's been a busy past few days around here! But as I get ready for the July 4 holiday, I have some time to post a few more items from the Dallas Comic Con. I had a chance to meet Jaime Mendoza, one of the hottest comic talents out there today. Jaime (below on left) is inker for X-Men and Uncanny X-Men and he's also worked on Action Comics, Star Wars, Batman, Adventures of Superman, DC Comics 9-11, and Young Justice vs. Spy Boy. We chatted about stuff (comics, of course!) and within a few minutes LAID OUT THE PLOT FOR A MINI-SERIES THAT'S GONNA BLOW THE SOCKS OFF THE ENTIRE COMICS UNIVERSE!!!!! OK, not really. We talked about sudoko. But you never know! It could happen!

Sunday, July 1, 2007 Meeting some bad dudes at ComiCon I'm getting ready to head out again to Day Two of the Dallas Comic Con (it starts at noon; be there!), but I wanted to show you the work of David Olivarez, a talented artist from San Antonio behind the independent comic Malo (for mature readers).
David (below right) is a fan of Baldo and we're new fans of his work. He's got some exciting things happening with Malo, so news of that will be released soon. More info on the Malo MySpace page here. Check it out!
